Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night Reading Comprehension Answers

1. A. The poem is a call to arms against death, which is represented by darkness and night, so that “good night” means “Goodbye,” not at the end of the day but at the end of life.

2. B. The poem’s refrain to “Rage, rage against the dying of the light” entreats us to fight the darkness of oblivion that comes with death.

3. B. To both curse and bless is to send two messages. Though Dylan loved his father, he felt the burden of being somewhat of a disappointment to the older Thomas, who was much more of a scholar and Welsh nationalist than his rebellious son.

4. They all could have done more with their lives.
