Aiden offers to spar, allowing Alex to vent her emotions. However, when she begins aiming for his face, he stops the fight and subdues her. She lashes out, accusing him of withholding the truth. Aiden agrees and apologizes. The tension shifts, and they kiss before Aiden abruptly pulls away. Alex flees the gym.

Outside, she encounters Seth, who questions her identity and why he was assigned to guard Lucian only after she arrived. He speculates that Lucian wants him to protect Alex, though he does not know why. Alex recalls that the daimon who tagged her also questioned what she was. Seth reveals that he can sense her presence as though drawn by an unseen force. He reaches for her, but Alex recoils. She again observes his shifting tattoos.
