The Girl Who Was Supposed To Die Character Analysis

Cadence “Cady” Scott/“Katie”

Cady is the 16-year-old protagonist of the story. She regains consciousness one afternoon in a cabin, tied up and on the floor. She quickly realizes that she’s been tortured but has no memory of who or where she is. She only knows that there are two men in the cabin with her and that they want her dead. When she manages to fend off one of her attackers, possibly killing him, she flees the cabin and goes on the run, all the while trying to figure out the circumstances surrounding her memory loss and why people want her dead. As the narrative progresses, Cady must determine who to trust, including a young man named Ty who goes out of his way to help her. The two try and piece together what little information they have while staying one step ahead of the men determined to kill her. By the novel’s end, Cady is able to regain her memory and reconnect with her family, but she’s still faced with a dilemma when the men who want her dead catch up to her.
