Short Answer

1. Thomas, like other Gladers, arrives not remembering much except his name. He does not know how he got to the box, and he is in a completely new place, knowing no one. (Chapters 1-2)

2. The relationship between Thomas and Gally is tense, filled with mutual dislike but for different reasons. The first time Thomas encounters Gally, Gally orders him around and tells him to call him “Captain Gally.” Later, Chuck plays a prank on Gally, but Gally catches Thomas and blames him. During this interaction, Gally reveals he saw Thomas in the Changing. At this point, Thomas does not understand all that Gally refers to, but the animosity is clear. (Chapters 3-5)

3. Usually, new people arrive once a month. Teresa arrives the day after Thomas.
