Biography & Background

Kristin Hannah Biography

Kristin Hannah is a popular American novelist whose works frequently top bestseller lists in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and other publications. When she was a girl, her family moved from California to Snohomish, Washington, and the Pacific Northwest figures strongly in many of her books. Hannah studied communications in college before pursuing a law degree, but when her mother developed terminal breast cancer, she and Hannah collaborated on a writing project as a means of distraction. The novel they jointly wrote was never published, but Hannah returned to the hobby when she was pregnant and ultimately released her first novel, a historical romance entitled Handful of Heaven, in 1991.

In total, Hannah has written more than 20 novels spanning various genres that commonly explore themes of loss, family, and women’s experiences. As her first New York Times bestseller, On Mystic Lake (1999) was her breakout novel, but she is best known for titles like Firefly Lane (2008), blurred text
