This Woven Kingdom Character Analysis

Alizeh

Alizeh is the protagonist of Mafi’s novel. A young and hunted Jinn who is also the lost heir to an ancient kingdom, she finds herself ensnared in a prophecy that marks her as the harbinger of Ardunia’s destruction. As the tale unfolds, Mafi reveals Alizeh’s personality to be both intricate and layered. Physically, Alizeh’s beauty is unmistakable, and it even renders Prince Kamran speechless. Beyond this aesthetic allure, her physique hints at her strength and agility, and these elements are further corroborated by her many competent actions throughout the narrative.

A formidable Jinn, Alizeh exhibits prowess in both combat and subterfuge and masters a wide variety of arts in order to survive. Despite these skills, however, she is not devoid of imperfections. Her impulsiveness, particularly her tendency to speak “out of turn” for a servant, are balanced by instances of thoughtful compassion and empathy. Internally, Alizeh wrestles with a maelstrom of emotions and thoughts. Her identity as a Jinn, coupled with the looming dread of the prophecy in which she is entangled, casts a shadow over her psyche. This internal turmoil is further complicated by her evolving feelings for Kamran, the prince who is determined to capture her.
